Wow, I couldn't believe the news on the way home this afternoon. I saw Robin way back in 1975 in Pacific Beach at a comedy store. Me and 2 of my friends sat in front of the stage. There was probably only 20 or so in the audience. That was our mistake considering we were wasted with several smoked joints and some beer.
When Robin came out to do his skit, he ripped all 3 of us a new one for sitting in the front. After the show, I came to the conclusion that this guys was great and extremely funny. Sure enough, a few years later, we saw him in Mork and Mindy show.

I'm sure it was more than money. He was always going a million mikes an hour, to have chops like he did you had to be a little off. While he was still hugely popular, the pace had slowed and maybe felt unworthy (god knows why). Just a thought.

I seen him early '00s. He was hilarious. RIP.

Age 63 is an early age to go. He had personal demons, though, so maybe they're no longer tormenting him. I hope not.

The news reported he recently had heart surgery, maybe the meds affected his judgment?

All I said was they checked out early, not why or how.

Being wealthy is complicated. Extreme wealth means extremely complicated. Most can not handle it.

Actually, John Ritter had the same condition that took Maurice Gibb, his aorta basically exploded. Dead in seconds, no chance to save either of them.

The meds they put you on after heart surgery can affect your mood a lot. High blood pressure meds cause depression, as do chlosteral meds. They're always accompanied by a "mood elevator" such as Lexapro. Unless by trial and error you get the right drug combination, then you're suicidal.

My cardiologist asked me if I felt suicidal after a triple bypass. I said, "No." He said, "That figures. Homocidal, maybe...."

Very possible. A guy I work with had heart surgery. When he came back he was NOT the same man. Its a syndrome that some people experience after any major surgery.

Dead Poet Society, one of our all time favorites.

He was a USO performer.

RIP Mr. Williams; you did good work, you'll be missed by many.

It's an extreme procedure, and it affects you in many ways. First of all you're put into a vat of ice to slow your heart rate and other bodily functions. Then your sternum is sawed apart to get to your heart, and veins are grafted from your legs. You require many pints of blood.

You are returned to your place in ICU to monitor, and your condition can vary greatly, from very good to almost dead. No matter..they want you on your feet in a day, even if you're practically comatose. I was unable to stand nor eat after two days because of collapsed lungs. I don't want to talk about how collaped lungs are handled. That made no difference. I had to walk.

Then they make you do a lung capacity test, but you're a zombie. You of course fail, and you're forever listed as having emphysema. It goes downhill from there

Mr. Williams and myself after returning from the USO tour in the sandbox. Very nice gentleman, even though he was tired, took pictures for anyone who wanted one. Sorry to see him go.
