Concealed carrier confronts, kills two armed robbers in Reading, PA

I’d like to take this opportunity to vividly illustrate a minor flaw in Wayne LaPierre’s argument.

The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun who knows how to use it, and this Reading, PA concealed carrier certainly did:

The armed men took cash, cigarettes and lottery tickets before exiting the store. Outside they were confronted by the concerned citizen who told them not to move and that he was calling police.

Adams said a struggle ensued and the suspects took out their weapons. The citizen, however, was also armed and fired at the suspects.

The suspects were both shot in the chest and died at the scene.

The entire crime inside and outside the store was apparently captured on security cameras, and police do not expect to file charges against the concealed carrier.

Sounds good to me. He should get a reward from the Commonwealth of PA for saving them the money to incarcerate those two for the 30 days or so until they would have been kicked free to try again

That's a nice sentiment, but the robbers who got dead were not convicted of that robbery, thus, they were innocent. Government shouldn't be handing out rewards for killing not guilty people, even if they needed killing, like these erstwhile robbers.

The only way I can see this working is if we get the government to issue Letters of Marque, authorizing people to attack pirates working on land. That would allow people to kill robbers and take their stuff, with .gov approval.

I'd like to find the guys who robbed our shop, kill them, and take THEIR shit, with approval of government.

The guy made a perfectly reasonable request for the two men to stay where they are, and they chose to pull out weapons. At that point it is game-on. If the police demand that concerned citizens never ever ever ever get involved, then perhaps this person could be perceived as doing something wrong. But that's not the case, at least not yet anyway.

Don't misunderstand my post. I strongly agree with the guy gunning down the two robbers. I was just adressing the "cash reward from government for gunning down the two suspects" part. To me, it would seem that there would have to be a trial to convict the two robbers (moot point) in order to pay reward money to our hero.

The .gov doesn't need to be promoting any form of street justice. Failure to prosecute in cases like this is sufficient.
