Had it on for a couple of minutes... Long enough for them to explain the Menora. And that has what to do with Christmas?

Haven't even seen the original movie, so no, I didn't peep a bit of it.

Got it recorded. Thanks to the reviews here and elsewhere, I won't waste my time. On the other hand, I'm absolutely sure my wife will think it's the best thing on TV, ever.
I never could understand musicals. Imagine the guy who wrote Hamilton looking for investors: Hamilton writer: We have written a show about the founding fathers. Investor: Sounds interesting, tell me more. Who's the main character? Jefferson? Washington? Writer: Alexander Hamilton. Investor: Why him? Writer: He's very interesting when portrayed as a black man. Investor: But Hamilton was white. Writer: All the characters will be minority people. Investor: Okay, if you say so...What else should I know about your play? Writer: It's a musical. Investor GTFO. |

When I saw the ads for it all I could think of was the live version of the sound of music from several years ago, it was awful too

I suffered through the whole thing - my better half was hyping this thing for weeks, and insisted we should watch it. As soon as it started, I said, "What is this, a commercial for Old Navy?!?", as there were guys in puffy ribbed jackets all over the fecking place.
Sure enough, every other commercial was for Old Navy. I know a lot of work goes into these things, no doubt - but the only thing close to a musical that I enjoyed was the Sweeney Todd movie. |
