How do you exorcise a TV?

This is the Coby TV in my workshop. A few months ago I suddenly lost the cable signal. MrPeabody very wisely asked if the TV is at the end of the cable. It is, and a booster restored service.

Now, this TV is possessed with demons. Three channels have no sound. Two channels, including AMC (which had Josey Wales on last night) are in Spanish. I had to used CC last night to watch it. WTF??? And half the time the Xfinity remote doesn't work for channels, on-off, etc.

Time for a new TV? The TV and Comcast converter are less than a year old. BTW, the dude dubbing Clint Eastwood sounds an awful lot like Speedy Gonzales.

sounds like you have SAP enabled. Is there a way to perform a master reset ?

That .gif there reminds me of decades ago, early 70's I would pick up some hapless portable TV destined for the scrap heap.....and shoot them on the hillside, one of them imploded so violently the only thing left was the metal frame and some chassis parts....even cleaned the circuit cards out.....



I remember working at Monkey Wards in FW Tx, 1970, and in comes this set for some goat roper emptying his .38 into the screen, it was a color TV, with a bonded tube, if that had not held up , it would have imploded and killed his dumb ass.....the goat ropers were loosing....

Look for something that says SAP-turn it off.
If you see something that says CC-turn it off also.

If you give me the model number I can look up the owners manual and tell you exactly how.

Is it an undermount tv with the dvd player?
Is it one of their small 15" lcd tv's.
Do you only use the converter from the digital box?
Which digital box?
