For the first time ever, In-N-Out closes one of its stores

In-N-Out is closing its only location in Oakland, California, because of "ongoing issues with crime," the company said Tuesday.

While several locations have been relocated, the company has never closed a location in its 75-year history.

"We feel the frequency and severity of the crimes being encountered by our customers and associates leave us no alternative," Chief Operating Officer Denny Warnick said in a statement Tuesday.

They opened one about 20 minutes from me (in Woodburn, OR) a few years back and to this day, the drive through is ALWAYS backed up for hundreds of feet.

I don't get it. Their food is OK but certainly not worthy of that kind of hassle

I agree, they opened two out here about four years ago and they still have long lines. Food is average at best but then again I don't eat a lot of burgers.

I'll agree that Joe is light on crime, but please tell me what he did to make this easier for criminals in Oakland.

I had to close two stores in that area in 2002 and 2003 for the same reason and I'm pretty sure Joe wasn't in the White House. Oakland has been a hell hole for decades, well before Biden. This is on the state and Newsom.

When I was working from 2015 to 2020, I took the train into Santa Clara to work. During the train ride, I had the enjoyment of looking at the WORST city, Oakland. As a resident of Oakland CA for most of 1969-2003, I can say with confidence that the city has been run with a corrupt liberal agenda since the mid 1960's. It's proximity to Berkeley, its large black population who were taught to be irresponsible victims, and its rabid support for the Oakland Raiders has hit a flash point. Even 30 years ago, blacks were given a 'pass' on committing crimes due to white guilt/political correctness. It has only gotten worse. By the time I left in 2003, they were doing donuts around police cars shooting their pistols out the windows and the cops simply ran when they got a chance. I worked with the OPD on street racing and sideshow enforcement, and they were not allowed to impound the cars for more than a night then. I stated they should be able to crush the cars as Los Angeles had been doing. Also, by the time I left, it was no longer allowed to describe a black criminal on TV or radio if a bank had been robbed or a person had been murdered or carjacked. Instead, it was "suspect is described as a medium build male in his 30's." I'm not kidding. Hopefully Oakland will come back, but they've lost SO much by rewarding criminals and punishing taxpayers I don't think it'll happen any time soon.
