Default This just made my Day. And possibly my year.
I don't make it a habit to post about my private life online. But in this instance I have to make an exception.

My step sister Lynn has needed a kidney for going on about 4 years now. She was on the home dialysis system for about 3 of those years. We were really getting worried that she would be too weak to accept a new kidney.

Late Thursday she got word that one was available and to get to the hospital in Indianapolis asap.

The surgery was yesterday. I just word that not only was it a success. But that she took the anti-rejection drugs orally tonight, a day ahead of schedule. They expect to let her go home Monday. Things are going so well.

I am so relieved. Here I am crying like a baby telling you this. But our family is so blessed with this news. She has a loving husband, two daughters with two new grandchildren that she will now get to see grow up.

We are truly blessed.

Awesome news, glad to hear its all working out.

My father had a liver transplant in 2008. He was called to the Cleveland Clinic as a backup, but as it turned out the person in front of him was too weak

He did have a few complications, that resulted in them going back in and moving around some veins, but he recovered great.

Now he is on dialysis (July of this year) and is doing very well, aside from getting tired every now and then.

He is definitely a fighter. Leading up to his liver transplant, the doctors were stunned at how he looked pre-transplant. They said going by his numbers, he should have been near death, but he drove us to Cleveland, he refused to let us drive him.

He is 61 now, but the thing he missed most is work. He worked 35 years at the same job (railroad) and really hasn't found a hobby to pick up. He is enjoying not working but I know everytime he hears the train go behind the house...he misses it.
