Kindle Owners - Question for You

I'm thinking about buying one. I want to get the el cheapo base model because I only want it to read books, but I have some concerns.

It may be TOO small and light. I'm worried holding it will be a PITA because it's not very wide and I'll have to hold my hands close together. Can you flip a base model Kindle sideways and read that way, or are you stuck with the longways vertical alignment?

Couldn't find anything on Amazon saying anything about it.

If you want one, I'll send you the original Kindle. My wife uses her iPad now, so we don't have any use for it.

Get the little case for it. It opens like a book so your hands will be in the same position as reading a regular book. Also has a small light for night reading. I don't know about turning it sideways. My wife has one, but I've only used it a few times.

The biggest problem with the kindle is if you like to do an lot of reading, your Amazon bill will look like a car payment every month.

I have no personal experience with the Kindle, but I found this:

How do you turn your kindle fire sideways?
I used to be able to do it but now it wont and I prefer using the keyboard sideways

Go to Settings and in the upper left-hand corner change it from Locked to Unlocked. This will allow things to automatically switch between vertical and horizontal view for you, depending on how you are holding the Kindle.

I got a Mini IPad and downloaded the Kindle ap. Works really well
