Heck, with just a satellite phone, you can get Internet access and wi-fi anywhere in the world. No need for anything more elaborate than that.

Pretty cool ya got that intarweb in the jungle. I even had it in Baghdad but it was incredibly bad. Forget about YouTube or anything similar and load time for pictures from VBOT had me thinking of the 90s dialup. The funny part was the business name; Sniper Hill. They also had a monopoly and had me wondering who they knew to get that contract.

I wish. I'm in Nicaragua. We have spent three days trekking through the rain forest to meet and greet indigenous people to better understand their medical needs. Big time need for antibiotics, basic first aid, dental and educational materials for kids.

Last night we arrived at a jungle lodge in Nicaragua for a dry bed and good meal. But they only run the generators for 5 hours a night. We are waaaaay off the grid.

BTW - 5 star lodge is 2 stars in America. Maybe they are measuring in dog stars.

Gotta go. We got about four miles up river and our boat motor died. They had to tow us to a village where four guys have been swapping motors for about an hour or so.

Need to get through military checkpoints by 5:30 at the latest. Pouring rain too.

Negative Ghostrider, you're not going to want to do a broadcast with a satellite phone set up. The connections are low bandwidth and depending on your service, you may get frequent disconnects as satellites are lost. I use the Iridium system which has the most satellites and least amount of dropped connections, but the data transfer rate is abysmally slow. The upside is that I have wi-fi capability and can download emails and do light web surfing directly on my iPad.

Holy shit. The bugs are nuts. Also, eyelash vipers. The boy got some good ant bites. Otherwise our military clothing treatment worked great.

We will be using the system that CNN, MSNBC, FOX, NBC uses from a company called TVU. It's highly compressed. We need portability. But we need a good sat provider. Will be working on that in coming weeks.

We can probably run 640X480 too. Need to test gear. No signal though for most of the Nicaragua side of things.
