This last goat rope has shown that, if the level of corruption is deep enough and broad enough, the founding fathers check and balances can break down...they counted on enough patriotically minded citizens to be spread across the three branches of government to right the "ship of state" if things got too mis-aligned.

Now you have the Executive Branch (the Prez), sending their hit man, the NYC prosecutor who took a 5 step demotion from the #3 spot at the DOJ, the Judicial Branch to take down the lead political rival and the Congress, the Legislative Branch, sits around with their thumbs up their azzes, apparently powerless except for some toothless fake investigations.

And, all the while, the perpetrators laugh in our faces because they know they'll never be held accountable. The the smug current Prez can go on the airwaves and tout how justice has worked - right, "a well-meaning elderly man with a poor memory" who escaped prosecution for exposing national secrets.

If something doesn't change, we are well and truly f*cked.
Never thought I'd live long enough to see it.

Now we can all wait for Tauras to come along and tell us how beautifully the justice system worked this week.
