The Enterprise
Holy shit this model has been a massive challenge. It took months to work out the circuits and rework a number of lighting systems that were not bright enough.
I also had to fill a number of areas where light was leaking and still have a ton of touch up to do. Here is a shot of it temporarily mounted on its base. In order to mount it I have to disconnect the wire bundle that goes to the control box. In the coming week I’ll be hooking it back up and powering it up on video. I will post video when it is ready. |

Looks excellent.
Never grew out of building plastic models. Building a B17 right now (Have been for a few years now LoL). I'm detailing the interior and am going to do a cutaway view on one side of the fuselage so you'll be able to look inside. Haven't decided if I want to get some clear plastic and cover the cutouts or just leave them. That's if I can get my Sniper 2 EFI project complete. |

It would be cool to rig up a couple of small laser pointers in it to simulate phasers.

This is my third attempt. My first had simple lighting. Flashing nav, strobes and general lighting. It was hit be an interstellar soccer ball and was destroyed. My second kit went south very early on. I saved all those parts for paint and lighting tests. This one has very sophisticated lighting and electronics. And paint. Insane paint. I might do some aircraft with lighting but barely have time. I built a replica of one of my fathers aircraft (Cessna 182) but had to tear it down to do repairs after ai got it back after he died. I’m waiting for the circuit board to get back from my buddy who built it and then I’ll put it back together. Couldn’t use any of the decals because they were the wrong color so I painted every damn stripe and detail. It’s split in half right now. Quote:
Right now there is a ton of detail painting, sanding of filler, touch up and final control panel wiring. It’s really a fucking nightmare at this point but I can stop now. I probably have 400 hours in it. I’ll need to hook it up to test the light sealing soon so I’ll get some video of it lit. It really is extraordinary. It lights up in sections like the film. I can also change the programming if I want. The deflector dish changes from amber to blue and is synchronized with the impulse engine and warp panels. Plus a crystal on the dish. So dorky. |

Very cool. Got lots of hours working on and flying 182's. Great little aircraft.

A few shots of the saucer edge. The saucer is in two halves. The final step was to glue the top on. Inside is the circuit board and a shit ton of wiring and lights. It didn’t fit perfectly so it needs a bit of sanding and filling.
Once it’s smooth I’ll spray it with flat white, then pearl white, then three grey stripes. This will require masking the windows again. Finally I’ll need to repaint some details and apply the last decals. Then coat the entire model in Future (flooring acrylic) to seal it up. Then mount on the stand. Plus lots of tiny touch ups. It looks better from a slight distance. Some decals probably will need repairing but I have an extra set. It literally has like 300 decals. |

Still working on my Refit; progress is non-existent at the moment - too many other priorities. I bought myself some "motivation" though; I told myself I can't start on the J2 until I *finally* finish the Enterprise.

I had to run low voltage through each wire, find the right ground and see what lit up and what didn’t. Then process of elimination for some mystery loose wires. |

Look up Scotty's background sometime; once labeled "the craziest pilot in the Canadian Air Force"...and served during D-day as well...ballsy guy.

Appears not only canadian, but his parents were Irish, not Scottish blood in his veins. From wiki, Scotty was a tough SOB: He first saw combat landing in the 2nd Wave in a Recce Party at Juno Beach on D-Day. The 13th Field Regiment was interspersed with the Regina Rifle Regiment landing at "Nan" Sector of Juno Beach. After shooting two snipers, Doohan led his men to higher ground through a field of anti-tank mines, where they took defensive positions for the night. Crossing between command posts at 23:30 that night, Doohan was hit by six rounds fired from a Bren gun by a nervous Canadian sentry: four in his leg, one in the chest, and one through his right middle finger. The bullet to his chest was stopped by a silver cigarette case given to him by his brother. His right middle finger had to be amputated, something he would conceal on-screen during most of his career as an actor, sometimes with a flesh-colored glove with a "faux finger." |
