Default WTF kind of decorating fad is this?

Both DAB and Sea Six say they have decorative towels on their kitchen ovens. I just noticed one on my oven a few days ago. The towel is labeled "French Cheeses", and it has these cute little illustrations of Roquefort, Brie, Laquiole (whatever that is), etc. on it. I didn't unfold the towel to see the other cheeses in case you-know-who placed an explosive inside it.

I remember my Grandma draped towels on the oven door handle. We called them "dish rags". They didn't bother me because they were something you could wipe your hands on. These designer ones, though...I don't know.

Is this the latest ghey decorating craze I have to endure?

I blame the decorator agenda. Decorators SAY they just want the same rights as slobs like me who are decoratively challenged, but what they really want is to push their cutsie, matchy-matchy agenda down the throats of the rest of us, the stylistically challenged.

....and, when I go out in public with mismatched socks, somehow now I'm the bad guy.

I have to agree that that is the mind-set of almost all decorators. My wife, before we were married, had her house remodeled, and whole most of it looked fine the kitchen cabinets were painted Baby Blue with round pink knobs. Yup, they looked just like tits.

the decorator who did my house, though, walked to the beat of a different drummer: Wife wanted him to consider silk in certain rooms. His reply: "I'm not a fan of silk. After all, it's just worm vomit."

I heard a story about a guy that wiped his bottom using one of his wife's luxury hand towels. The subsequent and residual poo formed a pattern that resembled Elvis. His wife was upset until he sold it on ebay for a very healthy profit.

Food for though.

True story: Ralph Dean was an Assistant U.S. Attorney in North Mississippi. One day he came to Court wearing a blue-striped seersucker suit, a yellow shirt, a bright paisley tie, and had on White Buckskin shoes. When he noticed everyone "admiring" his ensemble, he said to himself, "And they say that men don't know how to accessorize...."

I have that same outfit and a true Southerner should own a seersucker for formal occasions.

The fancy towel craze started in Bloomington, MN one cold January night at the Williamson's family get together, 1967 I believe it was. Like wildfire it spread across the country, eventually making it to Louisiana last year.

Mrs. DAB irons my t-shirts. yesterday was chilly, so i wore a green one with a heavier button up shirt on top, with the tails untucked. these heavier shirts do not get ironed due to their fabric type. i pointed out that i was wearing a wrinkled shirt over an ironed shirt.

well, look at the time, time to take the dog for a walk....

Why were you in the kitchen to notice it? Was the wife slow bringing you a sammich and you went to check on her?

Towels not for drying hands, seashell shaped soap not for washing, 23 bed pillows that spend the night on the floor, couch pillows not for sitting on.... or near... lovely quilt, lets hang that on the wall...

Makes a guy want to surround the big screen TV with several smaller TVs... "Oh, those aren't for watching, silly woman, those are DECORATIVE."

You're holding back on your part in this conspiracy, methinks. Is your last name Williamson? You should be ashamed of yourself: Taking advantage of dim-witted coon-asses is deplorable. Easy...but deplorable.

There's been decorated towels hanging on my oven door for decades. It's called being married.
