Default I guess I just ruined a leather seat...

Strange thing happened this morning on the way to work. I got ready to get out of my car when I arrived at work, and I was stuck to the seat back. WTF? I pulled harder and heard a Velcro-pulling-apart sound, but I was free. What had happened was that my pants belt had stuck to the seat back. I felt of my belt, and it felt soft and sticky.

Now I have a 1.25" W x 8" L black stain on my leather seat back. Some kind of reaction between the leathers??? Can the stain possibly be removed? I shudder to think what a new seat covering will cost.

most "leather" belts are nothing more than laminate, the laminate was probably separating and just ended up being a perfect storm this morning for you.

That sucks though. you should be able to remove it but try to verify the "type" of leather used in the seat first, then get to work with the saddle soap and leather cleaner.

Larry try mineral spirits and a white rag. try a small end piece first. Should not hurt the seat. might smell a little bit. just leave the window down for a bit.

Won't mineral spirits remove the color?

It did not on my car. Don't rub really hard just see if it lifts the stain quickly. There are some other expensive car products as well.
