Default Eggwatch 2025: What did you last spend on a dozen eggs?

I bought a dozen cage free brown eggs for $ 4.99. The regular cage produced white eggs were $ 4.69.

I hope someone finds out whether this bird flu thing requires as much intervention as it's getting. And I need to go have a talk with the chickens outside and find out why they're not laying. Thus far I've only gotten 3 eggs from the mother, nothing from the now adult chick. Those ladies need to start workin' it. Chicken feed ain't free.

Whatever it costs to feed them. They slowed down a little with the freezing weather, but now it is spring-like, and they have started laying like crazy again.

Just bought some $4.55 a dozen. Years ago when I kept livestock I had free range chickens. So pretty much free and a daily Easter egg hunt for the kids. Now I see some building chicken condos and spending time and money not to mention a sitter if they want to go away. I don't understand this they must have something else going on.

$3.99 for brown or white free range at Trader Joes. I go through about 8 eggs per week.

If I looked at prices, I'd never buy anything. I buy what I need or want. I'm not going to change the price by denying myself what I am hungry for.

Timely thread. CNN says egg prices have skyrocketed since Trump took office.

I paid $6.19 for a dozen of extra large eggs a few days ago. They have been higher than that.

Besides the fact that CNN is extremely biased, one of the last things that the pedophile administration did before being kicked to the curb was to destroy more than 100,000 chickens. Might just have a little to do with it.

This ^^^

I’m not a ballah but I just don’t care.
Hell I could not tell you how much my new house is costing me.
I just keep building and writing checks.

Wife keeps up with that chit.
I can tell you that she says that we used to have money…now we are poor farmers.

Respectfully, if you have always had this mindset, that may be the reason you are in your current financial situation.

I have always done without, or compromised. At this late date (will be 64 this month) I realize I was overly frugal perhaps, and had better get to living or else someone else is going to on my dime after I'm gone.

I think the happy medium is somewhere between buying whatever you want or are hungry for and living on ramen noodles for years to get ahead.

With the ending of DEI initiatives, male chickens are no longer allowed to lay eggs, hence a shortage thanks to Trump

I understand the correlation, but my older comments about finances are not all emcompasing and are often a rant based on the mood at the time. Example: I'll be in my current house forever, so I am removed from housing inflation.
I have never, and will never, buy a brand new vehicle so I am not taking a massive depreciation hit. Repairs are a fraction of the cost of replacing a vehicle on a regular basis.
I don't buy computers unless one dies. Same with appliances. I don't need the latest watch, phone, 8k TV, etc. I have had the same furniture in most cases, since 2007 and what I brought into the house from my old house is older than that.

The point being, I do all the above so I can do and enjoy what I want in other lower dollar areas. Im' not altering my life style or moving the needle by paying $2.00 or $6.00 for eggs. That's not having an impact on my life.

What DOES impact it is utility bills climbing, gasoline prices climbing, healthcare prices climbing.

I have no idea, I don't pay attention to the price.

Hens typically slow egg production way down in the winter because of the lack of sunlight.

If you have them in a coop, turn the friggin lights on at night.
