Default The 1954 Dodge Fire Arrow. Concept vehicle.

Designed by Virgil M. Exner and built by Ghia in Torino (Turin), Italy on a 1954 Dodge chassis with the Dodge Red Ram Hemi V8, and Powerflite auto transmission.
The 1956-59 Dual Ghia cars were based on this one.

Dean Martin drives his own Dual Ghia in the 1964 Kim Novack movie "Kiss Me, Stupid". They are not for everybody, but their durable Chrysler drivetrains always were a plus.

Speaking of Plymouth Arrows, does anybody remember the Plymouth Cricket or the Dodge Colt? I must have worked on hundreds of them 40+ years ago, including a very memorable turbocharged 1983 Shelby Colt with the 4 speed manual with a high/low range for 8 forward speeds if you were fast on the stick. OF course, it would torque steer into the curb if you got on it too hard. Great memories. Ten years later, they were all gone.

I bought a Plymouth Arrow GT new in 1979. It was red with the flat black hood and other accents. Had a b&w houndstooth interior and a 5-speed. Little thing was a rocket.

Front end as soft as it seems at the end of that video?

Yes. These were Mitsubishi-made cars that had 13 inch bias ply tires and were rear wheel drive. The rear wheel drive and stick shift made them fun to drive, and the 2.6 engine with the 'MCA Jet' (which was a third intake valve) was a mover. For about 100,000 miles, which was the lifespan of these cars. At that point, the engine would be smoking, the timing chains clanking, and the rear end howling as the transmission jumped out of gear. But what to you want for $2k?

I believe mine was $4,995 brand new.

I had the pick up version. That thing was crazy and I used it to call on service stations when I was starting out. A couple of shops had guys that thought it was funny to pick it up and move into a parting spot sideways so I couldn't get it out.

Good times.

We used to pick up our 8th grade economics teacher's '71 AMC Gremlin and put it in the juniper planter between the parking lots. Took about 8 of us. His car had a 304 V8 in it, though, and was a rocket ship. IIRC it had the Levis interior, too.
