If you are looking for physical gold you may try a jeweler or a coin shop. I had my eye on a few Spanish doubloons but they got pricey….10-15K.
I have a few gold coins with some serious value but I still want some of that old pirate stuff.

You will pay a premium for a lot of the coins. Plain ingots will be be a lot closer to the actual metal value.

Absolute truth.
But there’s something about the old coins that appeals to me.

I have a good buddy that has been collecting art bars for years.

Most of them were purchased at a slight premium but now sell for double spot or more.

Anyone's guess at what the economic collapse will look like. I figure that the Dollar will be worth nothing; so have little as possible in cash or in the bank.

Stocks will be worth something, because they represent "widgets". Remember the toilet paper during Covid wars? Essential goods will skyrocket. Blue Chips will recover later. Tec? Not for a long time. Analog rules.

For short term buying power, I'm relying on silver coins. Two to fill a gas tank, one for a bag of groceries. People are still making stuff, crops still growing, just figure out how to buy them.

Gold? Useless in this scenario. No one will have change. Like buying a cup of coffee with a hundred dollar bill in a third world country.

If I were to buy a gold coin, it would be a Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle, considered by many to be the most beautiful US coin ever.

A fairly reputable place is JM Bullion.

You will pay ~$60 and up per ounce over market on gold. All sizes; grams to kilos and more. Other precious metals and coins as well.

I've never got anything large from them, but my shipping/insurance has always been free.

Gold is outta the question for me, so decades ago my Dad had a few silver dollars.......and I have a few of them maybe 42 bux face value.....woopie doo....so they set around for some decades now.....

and recently I have noted that some .net outfit been selling silver dollars for only 1.50 or so.....and the coins look, SOUND, like real.....TEMU is the site

but go look on the .net for silver dollar sales, and it looks like 35 bux each...

what gives??

Everything sold by TEMU is made in China.

Some of the fortune from a sunken 1750's Spanish Galleon off the coast of FLA was on display about 25 years ago in the Bay Area in CA. I saw some of it. If you're into history, treasure island, pirates, and all that 'neat' stuff, seeing it in person is electrifying. Nothing cooler, IMO. Then a bunch of it got stolen and melted down by room-tempurature IQ miscreants. MELTED DOWN.
When I heard about it, I was outraged. People who aren't on Vette Barn are so damn dumb.

My safe wasn’t made by Liberty!

Silver by kilo and Gold by the ounce only…..

Precious metals are a safe haven to keep but it takes a lifetime to really profit….
