Default Datawiz circa 1998

GWiz used to sit in her bouncy seat as in infant to the left of the scanner, but this was 25 years ago....and you guys think I'm nuts for having 18 monitors today. The efficiencies provided are part of my work DNA.

The printer on the right was the very first HP Color LaserJet. It was about $4,000 back then, and each of those 21" CRTs were about $2k.

Side note: that desk is still the desk in use in my current office. 3rd pic for comparison. I only kept one corner piece and the two long pieces of the desk. Old, smaller house, had a wider office than my current setup, thus all 5 original pieces didn't stay together.

Absolutely. That was the first version to support multi-monitor setups, and of course, I went all out. It's been all down hill from there...once you drink the cool aid, there is no stopping what came next. At least this can give some background as to why my current setup is so extreme. These computers make me a LOT of money. Tech spending for me is a no-brainer.

Only 3 monitors?

You've come such a long way.

Not sure Win 98 could handle 18. Christ, I don't think the physical architecture existed back then to do that. If my memory serves me right, this Dell computer had 3 video cards, each with a single output.

My new setup (about to be installed...finally got the M.2 chip drives) will contain 3 video cards supporting 6 each.

As I type, this gen 2 version is using 4 video cards, and is a pain in the ass. New setup with those workstation class cards will be pure nirvana.

I was good friends with an Ana in high school. A voluptuous 5'9" brunette beauty. And 45 years later, still a knockout. And a very sweet person.

If you look closely, that's a SMART PHONE on top of the center monitor. I was remote controlling my computers with a phone 25+ years ago. Christ, I was able to assist a client with their server issue from the floor of a casino in Las Vegas around that time. Phones are a big deal now, but 25 years ago, that was cutting edge.

Fun fact...those 3 21" monitors for $6,000 are extremely close in price to the 18 32" 4k monitors I have (and I bought 2 spares) for $8,000.

That kind of money in 1998 in today's dollars would be a HELL of a lot more. Christ, that color scanner was $1,800. Today you can get a scanner in a box of cereal.

Also, same neighborhood, just bigger house.

I almost broke the bank back then - buying an Epson ES-300C color flatbed scanner. I think it used a parallel port.

I bought a Smart and Friendly 1x2 CD recorder in 1996 for 800 bucks and 74 min recordable disks (supported both audio and data) were 8 bucks each. It's fun to buy in to new technology that pans out. I have the first CD I burned on the 220th birthday of this country, and it still plays.

Found the bouncy seat picture. She was 6 months old, so the time frame would have actually been early 1999 for this picture.
