Default I just bought this 45 for 313.00 and free shipping..

American Tactical Imports ATI FX Titan 1911 .45ACP 3 inch 7rd

The original ones got terrible write ups on 1911 forums from 2010 but the current ones get better write ups maybe the quality control got better. I purchased this POS Philippines made ATI 45 because I wanted a cheap 45 to roll around in the truck with me and I wouldn't care if it gets scratched. It is all steel so it can be used to double as a yacht anchor because of the weight. The fit and finish is great the tolerances appear to be tight, as with all 3" barreled 45's they need to shoot a lot of rounds to get broken in. FTF and jams are common in 1911 3"45's. I will shoot it this week at the range and report back my results. It fits my hand perfectly but I ordered some Hogue grips for it.

P.S. mine came from sportsman's guide for 313.00 free shipping.

I have a Philippino 1911, a Rock Island. I bought it for the same reason, as a beater. It has been fine so far.

Nice score!
I like the idea of a range beater.

Nice deal.

I have a Kimber 3" 1911 and have had no issue with FTF or jams IF I have the magazine seated correctly. After a few issues I went to the slap seating method and have no issues on the last 3K rounds.

And this is what I use for ammo when I carry or have the pistol in the car.The Kimber can handle +P and I found 1K rounds on sale a few years back.

I always say you get what you pay for I assume that the internal metal parts and springs are cheap and will fail eventually luckily this is a clone to a colt defender and the parts are interchangeable.

I ASSume that you want it to be in the truck with you in case you actually need to use it at some point. If so, why would you go with something cheap for that role?

I completely understand wanting to keep the "nice" guns in good shape but at what cost? If it ever does come down to a situation where I NEED to pull 1 out and use it, I want to pull out something that I know is going to work.

With that said, hard to beat a $313 1911.

Well if it offers hours of satisfactory shooting.

I bought an ATI commander size .45 two years ago for $289 from Palmetto State Armory. I was like, hell, for that price, bring it on. It is my "beater" pistol. That said, I've probably slung 1000 rounds through it without a hiccup. Accuracy is decent, so absolutely no complaints about it from me. Anyone who expects Colt, Kimber, STI, and so forth fit, finish, or accuracy will be disappointed, but for what it is, it is definitely a bargain.

I certainly will shoot the crap out of it and be completely satisfied as to the reliability because if I'm not I will never carry it plus I always carry my 380 in my pocket.

Yeah, I haven't had any issue with my RIA either as far as function goes. The only gripe I have with it is hammer bite. I put about 250 rounds through it initially, and it tore up the web of my hand. Mine is the GI model, and in retrospect I should have looked for the 'Tactical' model with extended beavertail and better sights, but again it's just a beater anyway. The store I bought it from didn't have the Tactical model and it was sort of an impulse buy.

Man, that might make a fun introduction to 1911's...was at a gun show yesterday and found, those Kimberly ultra Carry's kept catching my eye. Hmmm Christmas is coming, I'm beginning to think Santa should be packing a 1911 and a beretta a400

A couple of years ago, I bought one of the Rock Island "officer's model" 1911s. Didn't shoot it a lot, but when I did, it was accurate and a pretty nice shooting little gun. Not nearly as polished as a Kimber, but at the price point I didn't expect it to be. The finish on it sucked though. I had it coated by a friend who was just starting a side business refinishing guns. Looking back, buying it was a mistake.
All it did was feed my hunger for a Kimber. But, I sold it to a friend for what I had in it, minus the cost of the coating, so it was basically a free gun for the time I had it.
And now I've finally replaced it with the tactical ultracarry, which is an incredibly sexy gun.
And Stangkiller, that's how it starts...drooling over the Kimber. You'll never escape now.

You can pick up the wearable parts by the handful at any show.

I don't go to the gun shows here in S Fl they are always packed and a pain in the ass to get around I buy from Brownells or Gun Broker or whatever web site pulls up the cheapest prices on what I'm looking for.

The true beauty of these Phillipino and Turkish weapons is that they make excellent bases for true custom guns. The metallurgy and machining is sufficient to support the investment of time and money to make them "one of a kind" exactly to the owner's vision. Want a Kimber but own a Rock Island? Get a Kart barrel, some custom grips, your choice of hammer/grip safety/controls, have the action and frame fit tuned by hand and refinish it to reflect your taste. You will own a "one of one" and whether or not you do the mods yourself you will also have the right to snicker quietly when you outshoot the guy in the next bay with his "factory" gun.
