Be careful with Vivint.

They are a large company and known for the "summer rush". They basically hire 30 or 40 college kids in an area and slam the market. The problem is a lot of times, like my area for instance, they don't have a local office or presence, so after the sale support suffers.

I personally would deal with a local company over a national company.

I get a couple a year. Ask to see their license..that usually trips them up. In texas anybody installing or selling security systems (and that includes IP cameras that the IT guys try to sell) must be registered with the DPS and be employed by a company with a license. The sales registration/license is different from the installer registration/license.

If they can not produce one, file a complaint with the DPS

Depends on your burb..... I know and visit regularly with about 8-10 households on my street, we know each other, party together, I knew fewer up in Maryland, that's true, but friends with about 6 of them.....and plenty high fences in the back yards for both locations....we all retarred long ago here, so we around and not much of a target, THE CROOKS ARE,

With the increase of private security companies now there is a Variety of alarm system that they are offering.And due to rise in competition in the market the prices of that Alarm system are reducing with increase in features.
