Today I saw these signs in Michigan for the first time when there's a merge it says to use the zipper method.

Looking back, I don't know wtf I was thinking sitting in that crap for what amounts to days, when adding up all the hours.
It sucked 20yrs ago. I cannot imagine what it must be like today with even more self-indulged stupid people distracted on the highways.

What I see, and have sometimes been guilty of, is people trying to get into a turn only lane at the last minute from the "go straight" lane, like a swoop and squat. Having said that, if I misjudge things and there's no space big enough to merge into, I'll just admit defeat and go to the next exit, and try another way.

As i get older, though, I usually just sit it out, knowing well ahead of time the lane I need to be in.
