I just did a little reading on the breed and how "fold" refers to it's ears being in the down postition. interesting. looks like a low maintenance puddytat.

The Scottish Fold is a very special breed of cat. They are good "people" cats with a temperament that is generally sweet, bright and quiet with an easy-going nature. They require minimal care and are a real treasure to have in your home.

The Fold has evolved as a sweet-tempered cat; devoted but not demanding; bouncy on occasion, but never too boisterous, more likely to charm than to challenge; displaying a British sense of decorum along with an American sense of self-confidence.

The Scottish Fold is, for the most part, not a talkative cat. Except when the females are in heat, Folds save their voices for certain occasions; like when they have been locked in a closet by accident, if you pull their fur too hard while grooming, or letting you know it's time to eat. Folds are known, for no other reason than the sheer joy of life, to jump into your lap with a cheerful greeting. Folds seldom talk just to admire the sound of their own voices; they usually have a definite reason for saying something, and it is up to the discerning owner to decipher each individual cat's message.

I've not had one and have held and petted only one. They are so soft and loving! I think that Scottish Fold would have followed me home! BTW, they aren't born with folded ears; that starts developing when they're about three-weeks-old.

I've had amazing luck in rescuing ferals, such as a Bombay Cat (a cross between an American Black Shorthair and a sable Burmese--Annie is one), and a Lynx Point Siamese (Isabel). I found out that rare cats are not unusual as ferals since some people dump them and others just leave their homes. The "rare" ones seem to be much smarter than the average cat and a lot more independent. I love all my other cats, too...although I'm not sure you could make a complete brain from all of them....

We have two Tonkinese cats. They are a cross between Burmese and Siamese. Very athletic and social cats.

They are very playful, social cats. You are wise to have two; as active and energetic as they are, one would be too mischevious and bored on its own. Be sure to never let them outside since they have no defensive skills.

I had a Bobtail that we rescued. He was the most easygoing, low maintenance cat ever.
He insisted on being an outdoor cat, and was killed by a car.

I also had a Bobtail. I named him High-Rise because his rear end looked so elevated. He could flat-foot jump from the floor to the fireplace mantle.
