It IS a vine. That's for sure.

I'm still trying to find the "poison ivy" that my lawn guy said he found when he trimmed a bunch of hedges for me.

Every time I see a plant with three leaf clusters I freak out a little.

YYYYyyyyyeeeep. Sounds like I'm mo' need me a Martini to calm my nerves.

Since I was outta town for your Martini thread, I offer my own, "Old Skool", perfect Martini.

Place Gin in freezer. Preferably Boodles English Gin or Bombay Sapphire.
Place Martini Glass next to Gin in freezer.
Place S/steel shaker in freezer next to Gin & Martini glass.
For 2 hours.

Remove shaker and fill with cubed ice, add 3-5 oz gin to the shaker. (Go big or go home, I always say)
Place 1 jigger sweet vermouth in martini glass & swirl, the dump vermouth in the sink.
Shake martini exactly 10 times.
Strain martini into glass, and place 1 olive in the bottom. No tooth pick.

For a Churchill martini, wave an open bottle of vermouth over your glass and nod towards France.

I've been drinking professionally since I was 16, and martini's are a favorite during the summer.

I like this recipe the best. Except, it seems like a waste of vermouth.

Last night, I left the Tanqueray in the freezer. Don't know why I didn't think about leaving the glass and the shaker in there, too. Maybe the shot glass used to measure should be thrown in as well??!

I'll make proper preparations for tomorrow's "Blademaker's Martini."

Tell ya what: Every time you find a new vine, crush some leaves and rub them on your face. Wait 3 days. If you have a face left, it isn't poison ivy. K?

Ok. Just made a Martini which is asymptotically approaching the Blademaker's recipe.

Filled the (room temp) shaker with ice. (You did say FILLED, right? Because that's what I did, pretty much).

Added 3 oz Tanqueray gin, and shook around 10 times (I was probably at 10-15 by the time I remembered I should be counting).

Poured about 3/4 oz of vermouth into room-temp glass (cuz 1 1/2 oz seemed like an awful lot to just waste). Sloshed the vermouth around to nearly the rim level. Poured the vermouth out into a shot glass for later consumption / coating another Martini glass.

Poured the gin around and around the Martini glass, in an effort to rinse all the vermouth into the mix. (Should I have done this, or left whatever residual there would be on the glass? Seemed like the thing to do, so I did it. )

Added one olive.

Added some olive juice, cuz I've already decided I like the dirty Martinis rather then the traditional ones.

Not bad. Not bad atoll.

Now, slam the martini in one gulp, run out in your front yard, pee on neighbors flowers, and yell "I'm James Bond, Bitch."
