Default 2 hours to change a turn signal bulb today.

I wasn't planning on going to Sebring this year, but I may drive down simply to find a Cadillac engineer and kick him in the nuts. The person who put his stamp of approval on a design that requires bumper removal to change a bulb deserves a special place in Hell.

That's insane. Beats getting pulled over, though. Did you change the other side while you had the bumper off?

More than a few years and models of Caddy require taking the whole frt bumper assembly off to change any bulb. Most people change them all out then since it's a retarded design. Two hours... You might have one of the easy ones.

Wow, used to take 10 minutes and cost a buck or less. I still have some new 1157 bulbs in my cabinet.

However, I haven't replaced a tail/turn/license plate bulb in 20-30 years, which used to be a required check before going out for a night of drinking.

They just don't go dead anymore on anything I've owned recently.

probably the same GM engineer that came up with this idea:

Northstar V8; starter motor under the intake manifold

That starter no where near the worst spot ever... I've dropped many an exhaust changing starters. While it seems stupid to put it there it's very well protected and they seldom fail. Takes me less than 2 hrs with beer breaks to change those, intake can just be lifted up and starter changed so don't have to disconnect fuel lines or wiring. It's an hr or so if don't tske intake all the way off.

To be fair, it is a 2015 SRX with 103k miles. My 21 year old daughter's car.

Perhaps, but it's going to be difficult to bang that starter/solenoid with a hammer when it's literally inside the engine.

That "engineer" was hired by a bean counter to replace an experienced guy near retirement age. Said bean counter never turned a wrench, so never thought to ask his recruit if he had turned a wrench...

You should have bought a BMW. Those turn signal bulbs never burn out because they're never used.

Nearly as bad on a 3rd gen Durango requiring a bunch of parts removal to change any of the bulbs; particularly on driver's side. There is a Youtube shortcut video that shows a simpler way to do it and that's what I use.

Maybe the controls are buried deep in a touch screen menu...

Changing the front turn signal bulbs on a C5 is no picnic either.

Been there, done that, no bulb changes on my last 2 rides yet but my 2010 Chevy HHR, both blew out. Tire has to be removed and fender shroud.

To avoid all that, I turned the wheel & tire inward to give me working room, removed a couple shroud screws, and scraped the sht out of my arm going inside. 15 minutes and although painful, did save me some time.

Dam that was what I did in the late 1960s to change spark plugs on my 67 Dodge RT. 440 CI.. I had Jardine headers on among other mods and getting to the plugs now from the top was very difficult. It was kind of hard to begin with when the engine was stock with those big swept back exhaust manafolds. I figured out that doing two plugs on each side of the car, turning the wheels the other way and do the reaming four was the best.
