I agree, not a straight-line performer, but for under $40K it is damn good on the curvies:

No Tesla Plaid? @Rob's gonna be pissed.

Also, curiously, no Chevy Bolt.

The stopping distance for the Stang was after it already clipped a couple gawkers.

200 yards to stop is bragging rights?

Turn that half-assed automated braking (anti-lock) off and let someone who actually knows how to drive give it a go. My Z06 in competition mode stops in barely more than the length of the car at half that speed. Wouldn't try this at 150 but that's because the roads here are lined with big scary trees and the cost of tires.

You think your car stops from 75mph in ~25 feet? It doesn't. It stops from 70mph in 170 feet. And it stops from 150mph in 702 feet, well over 200 yards, ranking it near the bottom of this group.

Stopping from 75mph in 25 feet would be about 7.5gs.

Using anti-lock. I don't doubt it. That garbage was hardwired into my Cadillac. Took twice as long to stop if that activated. The pulsating you feel through the pedal is the brakes turning OFF. Oh well, if that's what makes you happy, just hang on and wait for the impact I suppose. Not my thing.

True, but it's the brakes letting off slightly (not "turning OFF") right before the tire locks up and starts skidding that the ABS is doing, the same as you would but ABS is quicker and more accurate. I have a very hard time believing that you could stop a car with ABS in a shorter distance with it turned off than with it on.

The ABS is still active in your Z06 in competition mode. There is no way to turn it off. How do you not know that?

Probably because I can lock the wheels to redirect the car (or create space by shortening its length) and the pedal does not pulsate? All I know is it doesn't force me to be at the mercy of invariable mechanics like every car I ever drove with anti-lock brakes. I suppose it's great for slowing velocity prior to an impact? But I prefer to avoid that situation, seriously, I don't do accidents.

You cannot lock the wheels unless your ABS is broken, in which case, your ABS light would be continuously illuminated. I can feel the ABS working at 120mph with race slicks. If you can't feel it, you've never pushed the brake pedal hard enough. Locking the wheels does not, "redirect the car." Skidding will always continue in a straight line in the direction the car was traveling at the moment the wheels lock. Steering only works when the front tires are NOT locked. Seems that ABS has been helping you while you've been cursing it.

I was going to buy a 04 ZO-6 many years ago. I couldn't believe how cheap it looked inside with the cheap leather plastic and fit and finish. I thought why can't you take pride when making a sports car?

The people who came up with the brakes on the C5 should never touch a car again.

The people who thought they could make them better for the C6 doubled down on dumb.

Those brakes were a compromise from the start to get the in wheel knuckle design for turning radius and packaging.

I guy I did HPDE's with had a C5 Z06 and thought his brakes were magical while I told him how crappy they were. He got into NASA and then got real brakes, wondered how he made it around the track without them.
