Cougar
No, not that type.
A gal in my town posted a security camera video of a large cat in her covered front portico. She lives below the ski slopes, just north of the golf course, so much lower elevations. The cat's back was just below the knobs on her front door, so larger than a bobcat. Had that long tail, held in that characteristic shape. I can't figure out how to copy the video, otherwise I'd post it on youtube. Since the deer have repopulated this area, big cats are sure to follow. |

a big cat killed our neighbors sheep a few weeks ago, the next day we had a dead deer on our property. Saw a coyote hiding in the shrubs but let the mofo live (a very well fed one too). After letting the vultures have a good meal, I had it removed later that day.

Two young brothers were attacked by a Cougar here in CA last weekend. 18 and 21 year olds, out collecting shed antlers. The 21 year old died. They spotted it, began shouting and appearing 'big' (which you are supposed to do) and it flat out charged them. They were not armed. I have run across cougars a couple of times out deer hunting, and last time, I was stalked by one. It's paw prints were inside of my footprints on my way back to camp. Creepy.
Oh. Almost forgot. |

I agree. When I was headed back to camp at dusk, looking at those huge cat prints in my footprints (fire road fine dirt) I had my .30-.30 in my hands, but did NOT feel safe at all. The road was on a hillside with plenty of brush and trees above it and I was a sitting duck. I was glad as hell I had a hard camper shell on my truck that night!

MASSIVE cats in ID and MT. I hate those phuckers as they're unpredictable and dangerous.
Skiing in NC? You mean ice sliding? We're down in Tahoe visiting my daughters home this weekend. It dumped and still coming down. Looking out window on back deck Looking off front deck We'll ski here at Homewood tomorrow and Squaw aka Palisades on Sunday. Chit tons of Sierra's powder rt now everywhere. |

Only one weekend? I ski from late November to early March; a 400 yard walk.

I can walk (or ski) to Homewood from here. We reside in the Rockies. I'll take skiing on the worst day in the Sierra's, Rockies or 5hrs south of us in the Wasatch range (Park City) over ANYTHING east of the Rockies. Here's just one resort 50min from home. Notice what you don't see?...crowds! But feel free to post-up an eastcoast mountain. I can't imagine the wait in lift lines...to ski ice...at < 2500ft elevation. |

You don't have mountains...you have hills with crappy snow/ice and most likely way overcrowded. But feel free to post pics of those killer high elevation runs. |
