How I would start to re-open the country

1. All retail business do as grocery stores are doing and limit people per square foot
2. ALL Restaurants required to have IR thermometers and check guests prior to being seated
3. No hassle no arguing policy; If management says you have an elevated temperature, you do NOT get to enter the establishment. End of story
4. Open only places with patio seating for the first two weeks
5. Next open indoor seating for 30 or fewer seated guests and only if tables are 8 feet away from the closest table
6. Bars are NOT opened in any restaurants, but drinks can be ordered to the table
7. Two weeks later, increase to 60 customers and tables 8 feet apart
8. Two weeks later 100 person seating and tables 8 feet apart.
9. ALL dine -in is by reservation only. no waiting in the lobby area

Just as restrictions have been rolled out by states, opening should be determined by states, not a one-size-fits-all approach from the fed gov.

Grocery stores here aren’t limiting number of people by square footage for example.

In general I agree. In reality state border cities will have people popping in to the next state that is lax and importing their nastiness (potentially)

I waited in line for a few minutes to get into Academy, just to see if they had any ammo. They were picked clean on most popular calibers, but I did manage to get a couple boxes of .45, not cheap, but they had it, and I picked up a couple large boxes of 12 gauge shells. On the bright side, I ordered some shitty brass 9mm in March, and I just got an e-mail saying it was actually shipping, so there's that. At least I can hit up the range and plink a little bit without worrying about zombie hordes.

Additionally, I seem to remember a post saying there would be no .22. That was obviously wrong, they had some .22 in stock, and I've seen .22 online as available, too. Makes me wish I had picked up a Walther PPKS .22 back before the panic buying caused prices to skyrocket.

Germany actually did a study whereby they tested 80% of an entire city for antibodies. Based on the number of people who had been exposed to the virus and didn't have symptoms, they estimated the mortality rate at 0.37%. There's no reason to think it's much different here, and also based on the amount of the virus in sewage effluent, there are a lot of people who have been exposed to it here that aren't in the hospital. Perhaps upwards of 30%.

The death rate isn't 10 times Germany, that's for sure.

Oh, and of those 16,676 "COVID deaths", probably half of those actually were due to the virus. But what do I know, heir Fauci would argue with me I'm sure.
