Default Homegirl Fani blames racism for oversight committee: pot, meet kettle

Fani Willis suggests creation of Georgia prosecutorial oversight panel is racially motivated

Embattled Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis suggested on Monday that the creation of a new prosecutorial oversight panel in Georgia is racially motivated.

“Georgia had never had a prosecutorial oversight committee,” Willis told MSNBC host Rachel Maddow when asked about the state Senate’s special committee investigation.

“All of a sudden, 14 minorities were elected to office to serve as district attorney,” she continued. “And now all of a sudden they need an oversight committee to look after district attorneys because they want to tell us how to prosecute and who to prosecute and where we should put our resources, as opposed to allowing the voters that put us in the seats to make those determinations.”

Willis also called House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) “illegitimate” during her interview with Rachel Maddow. MSNBC

The new disciplinary board, approved by the GOP-controlled state legislature earlier this year and signed into law by Republican Gov. Brian Kemp in March, will have the power to discipline and remove prosecutors from cases in Georgia found to have engaged in misconduct.

Willis, who is under investigation by the Georgia state Senate over her use of taxpayer money during her relationship with former special prosecutor Nathan Wade, could come under scrutiny from the new body over the same allegations and other aspects of her handling of the prosecution of former President Donald Trump.

“They use false reasons for wanting to come after me,” the district attorney said Monday.

“What is so ironic is, although it’s only 14 of the 50 DAs in the state of Georgia, most of the citizens report to our jurisdictions, so, although we’re smaller in number than the other 36, most of the population has elected these minority DAs to serve them and has trusted their judgment,” Willis argued.

“But apparently we now need Daddy to tell us how to do our job.”
Willis could be investigated by the new Georgia judicial oversight panel. AP

Willis, 52, also railed against House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), who subpoenaed the DA back in February over allegations she’s mishandling federal funds.

“Jim Jordan has time after time after time attacked my office with no legitimate purpose,” she claimed. “Anyone who knows Jim Jordan’s history knows that he only has the purpose of trying to interfere in a criminal investigation.”

“He has now turned his tricks to he’s going to look at grant programs — which I invite him to do — and we have complied with his subpoenas,” she added. “But yet he continues his attacks to try to interfere in a criminal investigation — all while his jurisdiction has one of the worst crime rates, has poverty issues, and not one time has he used his position to try to investigate people who are attacking me and attacking others legitimately doing their job — making him illegitimate in his position.”

“It’s disgusting,” Willis said of the congressional probe. “Now at the state level, they’ve decided to follow this clown’s lead.”

Nathan Wade resigned from the Trump case in March after Fulton County Judge Scott McAfee issued an ultimatum, forcing either him or Willis to step aside in order for the case to move forward. REUTERS

A spokesperson for Jordan did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.

The Georgia state Senate special investigation panel held its third public hearing related to the Willis probe earlier this month, which delved into the amount of money the DA’s office has spent prosecuting the historic racketeering case against Trump and his co-defendants and the lack of oversight other government entities have over the district attorney’s office.

Willis has vowed not to appear before the panel, questioning state lawmakers’ authority to issue her a subpoena.

Well, no shit, Fanny. In case you haven't been paying attention, the very first thing that blacks do when they are elected is to start to steal everything that isn't nailed down. Look at that bucktoothed former mayor of Baltimore who is doing federal time. Look at Marilyn Mosby. Look at Elijah Cummins. How about that black from down south somewhere who had all that cash in his freezer?

That's why any district or city that is run by blacks is a festering shithole. Because all the money is gone. And they always act puzzled like they don't know where the money went, but sure as anything they go to the federal government and say, "We need mo money".

You're thinking of the Honorable William "Dollar Bill" Jefferson of Louisiana, who hid his cold, hard cash in the freezer. Probably wrapped in aluminum foil, too.

And she HANDILY wins her primary election:

Quote:
BREAKING: Somehow, Fulton County Democrats Choose Fani Willis Again
Chris Queen | 8:14 PM on May 21, 2024

With all the information that has come to light during Fani Willis’ tenure as district attorney in Fulton County, Ga., it would be understandable to think that voters in the county would be ready for a change. Yet somehow, Democrats in Fulton County have overwhelmingly voted to send her to the general election this November.

Willis defeated her challenger, attorney and writer Christian Wise Smith, to the tune of 89.4% to 10.6%. WSB Radio reports that the Associated Press called the race within a half hour of polls closing.

Willis ran in 2020 as an anti-corruption candidate, positioning herself as an alternative to the then-incumbent prosecutor, Paul Howard. It didn’t take long for her to embed the office in corruption of her own.

Willis was particularly fond of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, and her use of it in high-profile cases eventually became her downfall. Her prosecution of rapper Young Thug and his gang became a comedy of errors, complete with attorneys tipping off gangsters and investigators hitting on witnesses.

And then came her RICO prosecution of Donald Trump, the case that she must have thought would make her a superstar. It was rife with conflicts of interest from day one: she campaigned for Democrat Charlie Bailey for lieutenant governor, so a judge disqualified her from investigating Bailey’s GOP rival, Burt Jones, who won that November. Incidentally, Bailey’s wife works as Willis’ spokesperson.

Related: Fani Willis Claims That Holding Prosecutors Like Her Accountable Is Racist

Willis also hired Nathan Wade, an attorney with little RICO experience, to serve as her special counsel on the Trump case. There was one glaring problem with that hire: Wade was carrying on an affair with Willis. Once that news broke, Willis dug her heels in and became indignant and defensive about her choices. She gave a bizarre speech at a church the Sunday before Martin Luther King Day in which she claimed she was a victim of racism and imagined a conversation between her and God.

The hearing to investigate her conflicts of interest became a popcorn-worthy circus, with details of the Willis-Wade affair airing in the open and discussions of her bizarre habit of carrying stacks of cash around, in her words, “wherever I lay my head.” Judge Scott McAfee gave her an ultimatum: ditch Wade or resign from the case. Wade resigned instead.

Willis has maintained that any efforts to hold her accountable for her actions were unmerited. She refused to cooperate with federal and state investigations, and she told Rachel Maddow on MSNBC that Georgia’s Prosecuting Attorneys Qualifications Commission was a tool to target minority prosecutors. Conditions in Fulton County were so bad that a state legislator sued Willis and others for refusing to prosecute crimes.

Willis was so sure of herself and her ability to avoid accountability that she refused to debate Smith. So Smith appeared at an Atlanta Press Club debate and debated the empty podium behind which Willis was supposed to stand.

Willis will face off against Courtney Kramer, who ran unopposed in the GOP primary, in November. In other news, McAfee, the judge presiding over the Trump case, also won his election handily.

It's a sad state of affairs, that such egregious misconduct is still supported by a large majority in her district. That tells me that color and party as well as the demonstrated desire to go after Trump are more important than ethics.

Doesn't come as much surprise, but it still makes me shake my head, and it's difficult to be optimistic about the future for this country.

I remember his fat wife had nearly $100,000 stuffed in her bra and underwear, trying to sneak it out of the house.

They have not changed excerpt possibly to be worse. Think of the way they acted during the OJ Simpson trail (AKA debacle) The were doing a dumb form of jury nullification and then danced in the streets in celebration when the murderer went free! Also think abut them making a saint about that other POS George Floyd. Not too many Mensa people come out of that tribe!
