I have many, many students for whom English is not their first language. In class introductions, they usually say (often in heavily accented English) where they are from. One student did this one day, and while his English was accented, he spoke it very well. I commented on this, only to have him say "Oh, English is our primary language in my country."



The rest of the class, me, and the student himself all collapsed in laughter.
