Once upon a time GM had a top-notch styling and design department. That 50s-70s era will never be matched in design.

I agree.
Love how there are subtle similar styling queues that show up across the different models.
Pure class.

There is nothing like a full size car with a big block and a stick.

I use to work for a Chevron gas station when I was 17 that also had a service department, I was the Night Manager ( Pumped Gas )....Anyway they had a three bay garage and there was this Beautiful White 1965 Impala 2 Door with a 327 I believe it had SS Badge but I'm not positive it was long ago. It sat and sat for months and I didn't ever see any of the mechanics work on it, so one night being a 17 year old bored service station attendant I started it up and took it down the side street....stuck my foot in it and nothing couple of pops and snaps and I returned it to the station...very disappointed. The next weekend.... Me being the savvy mechanic I thought I was, adjusted the carburetor some and took it for another test drive... My boss was sitting across the street with his parents having dinner at a Chinese restaurant and saw the whole thing...he asked me the next day if I liked that 65 impala..And said I don't pay to work on it or do test drives....Best Boss Ever I learned a lot from him.

One of my favorite Impala's and would love to have a convertible and the best looking dash IMO with the round gages.

Back then you could actually build a car for looks, not as many .gov rules I guess.

My dad had a red 63 Biscayne 2-door. Six banger with 3 on the tree. Bought brand new. I learned how to drive in that car. It was going to be mine but was stolen and wrecked.

My grandmother had a blue one just like that. Probably didn't have a 427, but I remember that it had the crossed flags on the fenders.

Good friend of mine had a 65 SS Impala 409. Red on Red, Bucket seats. That was a nice car. The rear part of the frame would break welds loose when he took it to the racetrack.

Looks at the size of that thing! It's inconceivable that we used to drive those types of cars every day.

Sure is beautiful though.

Dad bought a new '69 off the showroom floor for a family car. I think it had the 350 in it. It was a boat, but lots of great family memories with that car.

I agree. Those three round tail lamps on each side....I had a dealer promo model of one in 1965 that was Evening Orchid (metallic lavender) with a white interior and a 4 speed. As a 4 year old I loved the styling. '65 was also the last year of the old 409 in these cars as 'top option'.

That '67 is NO slouch, and had a one year only, one model only special hood.

We had a 1967 Impala when I was a kid. 283, 4-door, gold. I used to ride standing on the hump right behind the front bench seat to the point that I wore a hole in the carpet. Mom named it "Nellybelle". I learned to drive in that car. We had it clear up until the 1980s, and by then the body had rusted away around the frame mounts and you could feel the body shift when going around a corner. The engine could be turned over by hand on the air conditioner pulley. Saw it at the junkyard about year after we'd sold it. Lots of memories were in that car.

Did not know this yellow, butternut yellow, was a factory color.

Tri-Power and Factory Air? Wow. The air looks factory but I bet that tri-power setup isn't stock. The L-36 427's were equipped with a single 4bbl Holley. I see that the owner subbed out for electronic ignition, so I bet he added the carbs. Still a super cool setup.

Notice the car doesn't say "Impala" anywhere? The 427 SS cars had the Impala nameplates replaced with the Crossed-Flag 427.
