I'll have to look it up, but it's what FL Fish and Wildlife officer told us.

Looks more like a FWC policy. I would think if it was a federal law they would cite it here

Yup - an FWC policy, not a Fed regulation.

The problem is every freakin' yokel that moves to FL from NJ and NY think Florida waters should be a koi pond and report any alligator as a nuisance as they clutch their pearls. If the goofy inner-city refugees would leave the animals alone and have some situational awareness there is no problem.

There was a 7 footer cruising past our pier last week, the old-time Floridians are like ... meh, no big deal.

I see gators in the water and say to myself, "That's his world. It's best I stay out of it."

It makes too much sense to just leave them alone. If you do that, but they start messing with you, pets, etc... then they become a nuisance.

Did you go to Ranger School? I hear Florida Phase is up close and center with the swamp life.

How many people can say they've basically seen a dinosaur swim by their home ?

Alligators don't "mess" with anything if people keep their fu-fu dogs away from fresh waterfronts and themselves too.

He is just a baby..
Here in Goose Creek we have Charlie, a 12 footer, with 13 other gators hanging with him.. Legend is its the same gator from some time ago, but the base keeps him in a pond and DNR feeds him periodically.
Last weight was 700 lbs..
