As a kid in 1970, an old guy down the street was moving and had a dumpster full of furniture, etc. In a desk I found some antique mechanical pencils, one engraved silver from 1915 that's a work of art and three or four gold-filled ones from the early 1920's. That got me started on fountain pen collecting. I found a $400+ Parker 'Big Red' Duofold at a thrift shot for $5 once. It's from about 1925. A friend recently bought a bottle full of change at a local garage sale for $3. It had $38 inside.
