I've worked with several engineers that grew up in Lebanon. They all said the same thing: "Nicest part of Lebanon was when my plane to America took off."
They had a 15 year civil war. As of January 2019, Lebanon had the highest emigration rate out of 225 countries surveyed of 40.3 people per 1000. i haven't heard of many people going to start a new life in...Beirut.
