I did a 30 day TDY to Minot during a November. It was miserable cold. Cold enough I had ice/frost inside the windows at Billeting. The room was warm but there still was ice/frost. The permanent party left the GOVs running all the time due to the severe cold. We'd been enduring well below 0 for about a week. Iirc, 60 below one night. Then, it got warmer so I took off my lined field jacket. You know me, I look for a jacket when it drops to the high 60s. Anyway, we then happened to drive by the Time and Temp on base. I was shocked. I felt warm but the Time and Temp stated 32. Oh yea, the base is 13 miles from town. Sometimes the weather gets bad so they'll close the road between the base and town.
