Hate to disagree with you but pretty certain that was a Florida Cottonmouth;
Agkistrodon conanti. Look at pics and tell me what you think. The give away is the horizontal line at eye.

Herpetology has fascinated me since I was a kid. I could be wrong but….. worth it to troll you.
