I often wonder if I let a valuable Strat get away from me. I had one for sale here in SLC, a 2008 in honey pine made in America. It was on Craigslist for a few days when it was sold to a guy in NY who wired me the money and had an associate pick it up and ship it to him. Here's the exchange from our email:
I've been speaking with a Patrick, is he the person picking it up or is it some one else?

Yep,
You probably are wondering why I just don't buy one here... well, I'm weird that way... Dennis will probably tell you a little about my career, but I can tell you that your guitar will be given a loving home and career... if all goes well it'll be broken in on the new single for a famous artist in May (sorry, can't tell you who it is yet).
If you look up Brett Nemeroff he is a NY music producer as well as doing TV production work. Never got a straight answer as to why my old Strat was so important to him or who used it.
