Here's the history on how we got screwed and ended up with the highest state gas tax in the entire nation.
Back when Rendell (D) was Governor, he got the brilliant idea to make Interstate 80 a toll road. Had the money spent before the final planning was done.
Guess what? Federal money was used to build Interstate 80 and the feds told him the only way to collect tolls on that road was pay back every single dime spent on the road.
By the time that happened, he was already out of office but next D governor raised the gasoline tax .10 every year for four years straight.
PA used to be a decent state but taxes are killing it. My wife and I will NOT be retiring in PA
