Yep. A few years ago a buggy pulled up to my house asking about a horse in my field. End result, they breed two mares a year to a horse I raised and keep, I occasionally stop by their vegetable/roadside stand when it is open and take whatever I want for free.
I don’t take advantage and it ends up a far better deal for them than it is for me, but I have not had to pay for honey, molasses or apples since. Have my own garden so taking vegetables is rare but have if something looks particularly good. I didn’t take the bread after the first time because it smells funny.
And I assume my horse appreciates the outside action as standing him to the public is too much hassle.
My wife teases me about my Amish wife because one of the girls makes me an apple pie anytime I ask for it. Before anyone asks, No pics of pie maker or wife …. against policy.
