I get that - keeping my old Sea Ray bowrider going wasn't cheap but I did most of my own maintenance. An appropriately sized pontoon boat is much easier to keep in shape. Hose off the seagrass deck, wipe the seats down with a little seat soap and you're good to go - and no bilge or transom plugs to worry about.
My biggest expense with the pontoon is the ridiculous insurance cost.
Over $400/year for a boat that gets maybe 30 hours a season on a very low-traffic lake.
