I went today on a hike to the pet rock memorial pile on a local trail here, I was able to spot the rocks I placed for them both again.
Today my friend, whose dog I have been dog-sitting since 2/15, entered in-patient hospice care. Time is short, so I brought her to his apartment yesterday to say our goodbyes. I prayed, read him a poem, held his hand, told him we loved him. Lots of tears. It was an extremely heart-wrenching, difficult, emotionally-draining day.
I brought Sadie with me for the hike...we have hiked the rest of this 18-mile trail (in pieces), but saved this part for last. Today was the right time.
I formally 'introduced' her to Cosmo and Clara, and thanked them for allowing me to pay forward the love I gave to them, to her now. The grief has come full-circle.
