About a week ago, my son was over and we decided to order a pizza from Domino's. The recording comes on "To keep our customers safe during the pandemic, we will be closing Friday and Saturday nights at 1am, and there will be no dine-in seating."

I wasn't aware that Domino's had dine in seating...thought they were all carry out. But my point is, how do these rules in any way keep people safer? How is shifting hours by one hour or staying open only until 1am in any way stopping the spread of the virus?

Am I crazy or are companies making up arbitrary rules to try and convince people that they're taking action? Seems a big waste of effort to me.
"to keep people safer" is the new "in order to serve you better"....

It's the latest "thing", a crutch to justify making something shittier.
