2017 total eclipse. Traveled to Kansas City to be in the path of totality and awoke the morning of the eclipse to heavy rain and clouds. I'd given up on being able to get photos but at the last minute the clouds broke enough to at lease get something. I was so rushed, the focus is soft which was a big disappointment. But what an experience... there was a 360 degree sunset! The next one is in 2024 and it will be dark at my house. Just hope there are not clouds.
This stage of the eclipse is called Diamond Ring. It occurs just as the sun first starts to break out from behind the moon.
