As you head along the canyon on south side from the famous view spot, you are going mainly east, then south, you will pass by Meteor Crater, painted desert, and petrified forest well worth seeing also....many interesting Native Indian shops along the road, artifacts and arts for sale much cheaper than the clip shops.....you can also head to Carlsbad Caverns....then on the way east, drive I20 through Midland/Odessa and the Texas oil fields, THAT is an education.....head south towards the Alamo, and Riverwalk....San Antonio....
