Mine is 56 yrs old. So far over the last eight years I've gutted every room but the kitchen, and upgraded to heavier wire, swapped out all outlets and switches, and added insulation. I vaulted three ceilings, and took out all interior hinged doors and framed in pocket doors. I extended the bathroom and put in a one piece tub/shower enclosure, built a walk in closet for the bedroom. All moulding has been ripped out and replaced with clear, and stained. . .
The list goes on. My house is in complete disarray, but when I'm finished it will be something to be proud of, and my personal touch will be all throughout. Left on my list is the roof, kitchen, flooring, laundry room and garage. I'll be busy for a while! I just wish I had done the roof FIRST, because it is leaking in several places, which is keeping me from being able to button up several rooms' ceilings. Running out of money sucks!
