I had a cortisone shot in the shoulder. After looking at an MRI I'd brought in, the Doc walks in with a needle so huge that looked like something from a cartoon. But he had loaded a bit of Novocain in the front and the shot wasn't that bad at all. He went in from the back if I remember. WAY in. It was my right shoulder and I drove the vette home (6 speed) with no trouble at all.
I did a little PT, not near what was prescribed and haven't had real problems with it since. 4 years or so I guess.
The pain of the shot was less that the pain I was having reaching for stuff... well worth doing.
