I called the jeweler and said "Thanks but no thanks" and they're sending the watch back. I told him that I thought that was an outrageous price when I know of people getting their Rolexs serviced for $300-$600. He told me that Rolex is no longer "servicing" watches. You send one in and they go through it completely, change old parts, make any repairs and the cost is around $2100.
Just passing along what he said. I don't know if he's full of shit or not, because I've been doing business with this jeweler for well over 20 years and they've always been reputable. Just...interesting.
Anyway...I think I've found a watch repair place locally that specializes in Movado. I called the guy and he knew exactly what kind of watch it was and said a service will be nowhere near $1100.
