I spent weeks in the woods every fall cutting firewood to heat my house. No time for cleaning. What would be the point? Who cares, besides somebody online who uses theirs for 10 minutes every other year to cut some 2" limbs in their suburban 1/4 acre lot?

I grew up with this stuff, been around it all my life, never heard of anyone and don't know anyone who "cleans" their chainsaw other than clearing out chips or something. But I don't know anyone who lives in suburbia.

I do wipe mine down. That's because I don't want chain oil all over the case
