Agreed though.
Some production years have had issues with internals, ring lands etc but for the most part they are light weight, powerful, and affordable to rebuild.
There's a reason Toyota uses them in their 24 hour Baja trucks.

I've beat the snot out of a few LS motors at the track over the years and they just took it.

Then again, it also depends on the builder. There are a few shops that made errors when putting these together, particularly in the early LS days.
Knew plenty of guys from "local builders" that grenaded their engines in the first season but I'd say virtually all were pushing them too hard or the builder made some critical errors.

You spray multiple 200 shots and come out of the hole at 5k plus, you're on borrowed time no matter who built the engine.
