Think of it this way: A family of 5 people start off Day 1 with none of them infected (like nearly everyone else on day 1), and we all start wearing masks whenever we are outside the family home and in the presence of other people. If the masks worked, none of us would get infected, so there would be no way for us to give it to each other. Conclusion: Masks do not protect you from a virus.
