If your vehicle goes into water you have an
extremely limited amount of time to try to get a door open. Forget about getting a window down unless you are driving a 60s or earlier classic with roll down windows. You have a couple of seconds to get your seat belt off and push the door open. Even then it may take more effort than an older woman can muster
From what I have read, in this case, the driver forgot to put the transmission in Park and her foot slipped off the brake pedal onto the go pedal.
