If you witnessed a child kidnapping and you went to the police and the police knocked on the door and asked questions, but ultimately could do NOTHING, and you KNOW this guy has a little girl in his basement, would you do something to rescue the girl or would you just be satisfied with the fact that you followed the process and the process failed?
Keep in mind that breaking in and rescuing the little girl on your own is illegal.
