Those of us with them had them, when SWAT rolled through doing house to house checks, they secured firearms, swept the house, and returned them. Not everything makes the news. There is way more going on than what has hit the papers/news stations. As far as the OP, it's a tough call as a private citizen, but if they had tried to enter my home, I would have done whatever was necessary to protect my family.
